Akbar completed his post-secondary studies at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Waterloo, a global leader in sustainability and climate change research. The University of Waterloo's Climate Institute hosts one of the largest concentrations of climate experts worldwide. Akbar has a strong passion for sustainability and addressing the global climate crisis, bringing his expertise to this vital work.

He has extensive experience across diverse global utilities projects, including transportation and logistics as a strategic consultant to the CEO of Canamex-Carbra Transportation Services, LLC; AI-based energy management as an advisor to I-EMS Group; healthcare technology in the UAE, where he developed an ER Management Application focused on efficiency for Influence Healthcare International (IHI), now partnered with Etisalat; supply chain technology in the Gulf Cooperation Council region for QLogitek, a subsidiary of Smart Employee Benefits; and advising on upstream oil and gas opportunities in Asia.
